Make a Difference with B Positive

At B Positive, we often talk about community, but what we really mean is people.

People who choose to give a little of their time, their energy, their skills, and in doing so, help carry others through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

We are powered entirely by volunteers. And while that might sound like a simple statement, it’s actually the heartbeat of everything we do.

The difference people make

Our volunteers are at the centre of so much of our work.

They’re the friendly faces helping at fundraising events, welcoming supporters at community walks, selling raffle tickets, setting up tables, packing away chairs at the end of long days when everyone is tired but still smiling because it mattered.

They’re also the quieter force behind the scenes. Sorting donations. Preparing materials. Helping us organise campaigns. Offering professional skills in design, admin, events, communications, or logistics that allow us to do more than we ever could alone.

And then there are the moments families may never see directly, but always feel. The preparation of Welcome Suitcases for children newly diagnosed with cancer. The care taken in every item included. The thought that goes into making something incredibly difficult feel just a little less overwhelming.

None of this happens without volunteers. Every single contribution, big or small, becomes part of something far greater.

Giving time, in whatever way you can

One of the things we value most is that volunteering with B Positive is flexible and human.

Not everyone has the same amount of time to give, and that’s okay. Some people can spare a few hours at an event every now and then. Others might want to get involved more regularly. Some prefer behind-the-scenes support that fits around work or family life. And others might simply want to use their professional skills in a meaningful way when they can.

There is no “right” way to help.

What matters is the willingness to be part of it.

Because whether it’s an hour or a day, whether it’s physical help or professional input, every bit of support strengthens what we do and extends what we can offer to children, families, and the nurses who care for them.

More than volunteering

Volunteering with B Positive is about connection. It’s about being part of something grounded in compassion and action. It’s about meeting people who care deeply, who show up even when it’s not easy, and who believe in making things better in practical, meaningful ways.

At the heart of it all is Adam’s legacy, a legacy shaped by kindness, positivity, and the belief that bringing people together can change how we experience the world, even in its hardest moments.

That spirit runs through everything. And it lives most clearly in our volunteers.

Join us

As we continue to support children with cancer across Northern Ireland and stand alongside their families and healthcare teams, we are always looking to grow our community of volunteers.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, there is a place for you here. Whether you’re hands-on, behind-the-scenes, highly organised, creative, practical, or simply willing to help where needed, your contribution will matter more than you know.

We would love to welcome you into the B Positive family.
